MJD Mechanical geothermal installation FAQ

Can geothermal heating provide my domestic hot water (DHW)?

Answer:

Yes.
All systems have the option of providing domestic hot water along with heating and air conditioning. A device called a desuperheater is used to transfer waste heat into the domestic hot water. Whenever the unit is running, the desuperheater will provide the storage tank with hot water for domestic use. When the unit is not running, electric backup inside the storage tank makes up for what the unit does not provide.
Econar and Hydron Module heat pumps provide a minimum of 70% domestic hot water. In many cases we can provide you with 100% of your domestic hot water.
